In the Spring of 2012, a few couples and individuals determined there was a need to form a unique and intimate Reform congregation with Rabbi-Cantor Nancy Diamond Landsman as their Spiritual Leader. The name of the congregation was chosen, based on the shared appreciation of the meaning of the words Ahavat Olam (Everlasting Love/Love of the World). In August of 2102, Congregation Ahavat Olam held it's first monthly Shabbat service at our “Synagogue” in Deerfield. Evening and morning Rosh Hashana and Yom Kippur services were held for the High Holy Days the very next month, with over 50 people in attendance. In 2018 we outgrew our space in Deerfield and moved to a location in Glenview that could better meet our needs.  Highly musical services, with instrumental and vocal participation from members, in an intimate environment, created the beginning of our spiritual community without walls. Since our inception, we have participated in Interfaith and social action programs with Christ United Methodist Church (the place where we gather for our services), as well as other congregations in the area. Additionally, we enjoy social events, eg. Christmas Day outing at the movies followed by a Chinese restaurant dinner and our upcoming cultural events at Ravinia Festival. Educationally, we offer classes and programs based on the interest of the members of the congregation.
